From October 1 to 11, 2026, Psara becomes the capital of Greek chess, hosting the 75th Greek Individual Men's Championship — the country's premier chess event, where the best chess players compete for the title, with the games broadcast live around the world.
Alongside the championship games, the island lives eleven days dedicated to the game of the mind: chess lessons for children taught directly by the country's top chess players, simultaneous exhibition matches, and the 1st Local Chess Championship, held on the final weekend with the participation of the chess clubs of Chios.
As the buzz of summer gives way to the calm of autumn, Psara becomes the ideal setting for a sport that demands quiet, concentration and patience — and this time, playing host to the country's biggest chess event.
The event is part of Psara In Motion, helping strengthen the island's presence as a destination for sports experiences.
